Bread Lasagna



Bread Lasagna




Makes 5 sets of Lasagna

Ingredients 

A. For The Filling 

1. Chopped spinach 4 cups
2. Garlic chopped 3 tbsp
3. Onion chopped 1/2 cup
4. Grated paneer 1/2 cup
5. Black pepper powder 1 tsp
6. Cream cheese 170 grams
7. Salt to taste 
8. Butter 2 tbsp

B. For The White Sauce

1. All purpose flour 1 tbsp
2. Whole milk 1 cup 
3. Shredded mozzarella cheese 11/2 cups
4. Black pepper powder 1 tsp 
5. Italian seasoning 1 tsp
6. Butter 3
 tbsp

C. For The Red Sauce

1. Ketchup 5 tbsp 
2. Siriracha 1 tbsp 

D. For Sprinkling

1. Mozzarella cheese 
2. Red chilli flakes 

E. For Assembling & Baking 

1. Bread slices 3
2. Baking sheet 
3. Parchment paper/baking paper

Method Of Preparation 

A. Filling

1. In a pan, add butter. When it gets hot, add garlic. When it turns a little brown, add the onions.




2. When the onions turn translucent, add the spinach. Cook for around 3 minutes.



3. Add pepper powder & salt. 



4. Now add the paneer & mix well & cook for a minute.



5. Now add the cream cheese & mix well until everything blends together & then turn off the stove. 



6. Transfer to a bowl & set it aside to cool. 



7. If you want to increase or decrease the quantity of cream cheese in the spinach filling, then you may do so.

B. For The White Sauce

1. Add butter in a pan. When it gets hot add all purpose flour & when the mixture starts to bubble, add the milk little at a time, stirring the mixture in the pan at the same time. You can also add milk by moving the pan away from the flame.





2. When the flour & milk blends well & starts to boil, add the cheese into it & mix well. Turn off the stove.


3. Add the Italian seasoning, black pepper powder & red chilli flakes & mix everything together & transfer into another bowl.


4. If you find the sauce too thick, then add some more milk to it.


C. For The Red Sauce

1. Mix ketchup & sriracha together nicely & set it aside.



2. If you don't want to add sriracha, then you can skip it & just use only ketchup.

3. You can also use store-bought pizza sauce for red sauce.

4. Sriracha can be replaced with red chilli-garlic or just red chilli sauce.

How To Assemble

1. Pre-heat the oven to 390 F

2. Line the baking sheet with parchment paper.

3. Take a bread slice. Smear it with white sauce & place the side smeared with white sauce facing down on the parchment paper.






4. Smear the top(the other side) of the bread with red sauce.



5. Then place another bread on top of it(the first bread smeared with red sauce) & place the spinach filling.




6. Now place another bread on top of the bread with spinach filling & smear it with some more white sauce. Add mozzarella cheese & sprinkle red chilli flakes on top of the white sauce.





7. Put it in the oven & bake for about 5 minutes or till the cheese melts.

8. When the cheese melts, put it on broil mode for a few seconds till the cheese gets browned here & there.

9. Take it out of the oven & sprinkle some more red chilli flakes & serve it hot. 



10. I did not toast or bake the bread before assembling. You can do it if you want the bread to be a little crunchy. Toast it using a toaster or bake at 390 F in the oven for a minute or two.

11. I have not cut the edges/sides of the bread as I was super lazy to do it ;-) but if you want your bread lasagna to be more attractive & tasty, please do it(check notes #2).


Notes

 1. If your going to cut the edges/sides of the bread, then this is how you should do it.If your doing this, then please don't toast or bake the oven(step# 10)


Take a bread slice & place it on the counter-top

Using a rolling pin, flatten the bread a little.


This is how it should look after you flatten it.


2. For the white sauce, make sure you add the milk only little by little otherwise the flour will form lumps & you will have to discard it & start afresh. Make sure you keep stirring with one hand while you add the milk using your other hand.

Cheesy Garlic Bread Bites



Cheesy Garlic Bread Bites



Ingredients

1. Bread 8 slices
2. Coriander leaves 3 tbsp
3. Garlic cloves 8
4. Olive oil 1/4 cup
5. Shredded cheese 3 cups
Method Of Preparation 

1. Add garlic cloves, coriander leaves & olive oil in a blender & blend well.

2. Preheat the oven to 350F

2. Take a bread slice & smear the garlic oil on it. Do it on all the slices. 

3. Line a baking tray with baking/parchment paper. 

4. Place the bread slices on the tray & bake for a minute or two or until the bottom starts turning a little brown here & there. Do not burn the bread. If you want the base of the bread to be crisp, then you may leave it in the oven for 4 minutes.

5. Take it out of the oven & add cheese on the top & bake till the cheese melts(mine took 5 minutes). Once all the cheese melts, put it on broil mode for a minute & once it is about to brown here & there, take it out of the oven. 

6. Cut each bread into half & serve hot with ketchup. 


Garlic oil is ready


I have used whole wheat bread.


Smear the garlic oil & pop it in the oven for two minutes.(This step is optional)


Take it out of the oven.


Add cheese & again pop it in the oven for 5 minutes. or till the cheese melts.



     The garlic bread is out of the oven & each bread is cut into two & ready to be served.

Notes

1. You may skip Step 4 & smear the garlic oil & add cheese & put it in the oven one time instead of doing it twice.

2. Coriander leaves can be replaced with parsley.

3. If you dont like the strong smell of garlic, then reduce the qty of garlic & add more coriander leaves & olive oil.

Whole Wheat Bread Sandwich Pizza



Whole Wheat Bread Sandwich Pizza 



Ingredients 

1. Whole wheat bread slices 4
2. Garlic 5-6
3. Oil 4 tbsp 
4. Parsley 2 tbsp 
5. Mozzarella cheese shredded 3 tbsp plus 4 tbsp(2 tbsp on each sandwich)
6. 4 tbsp cream cheese or mayonnaise 
7. 1/2 tsp chilli garlic sauce or salsa
8. 1 cup finely chopped vegetables of your choice(I added onions, yellow capsicum & pineapple)
9. Sliced jalapeno for topping 8 slices
10. Salt to taste 
11. Black pepper powder 1/4 tsp 
12. Italian seasoning 1/2 tsp
13. Pizza sauce 4 tsp
14. Red chilli flakes for sprinkling
15. Parchment paper/butter paper

Method Of Preparation 

1. Preheat the oven to 400 F

2. In a blender add garlic, oil & parsley & salt & blend everything together to make a puree & keep it aside in a bowl.



3. Take 4 bread slices & smear the puree on one side of all the four slices & place one bread on top of the other(like a sandwich) & make 2 sandwiches.



4. Take a baking tray & line it with parchment paper/butter paper.

5. Place the sandwich on the bread & put it in the oven for 6-7 minutes until the bottom becomes light brown & crisp. Do not burn the bottom. If your using white bread, you might want to keep it only for less than 5 minutes. Before putting the sandwich into the oven, smear some puree on top of both the sandwiches.



6. In the meantime, in a bowl, add mayonnaise or cream cheese, Italian seasoning, black pepper powder, salsa or chilli garlic sauce, salt, 3 tbsp shredded mozzarella cheese & the finely chopped vegetables & mix everything together & set it aside.



7. Take the sandwich out of the oven after 5 minutes & on the top, smear the pizza sauce first & then add the mayonnaise- vegetable mixture & top it with 4 tbsp shredded mozzarella cheese(2 tbsp on each sandwich) & place 4 jalapeno slices on the top of each sandwich.




8. Put it back in the oven & bake it for 5 more minutes or until the cheese on top completely melts.



9. Take it out of the oven & sprinkle red chilli flakes & slice each sandwich into two halves & serve it hot.




Notes 

1. Do not add water while blending the garlic, oil & parsley. 

2. You can replace the puree with pesto sauce or green chutney. 

3. You can adjust the quantity of mayonnaise & shredded cheese & other spices as per your choice. You may increase the quantity of cream cheese or mayo & reduce the quantity of veggies.

4. If there is left over mayonnaise & vegetable mixture, you can use it to make pizza paratha or sandwich.

5. Be careful while adding salt to the mixture as cheese already has salt in it.

French Toast Roll Ups





Ingredients 

A. Ingredients for the filling

1. Whole wheat bread/white bread 4
2. Nutella 4 tbsp
3. Apricot preserve 2 tbsp
4. Thinly sliced fruits of your choice

B. Ingredients for the batter

1. Milk 1/2 cup milk 
2. Eggs 2 large eggs
3. Sugar 4 tbsp
4. Cinnamon powder 1/2 tsp
5. Nutmeg powder a pinch 
6. Vanilla extract 1 tsp

C. Ingredients for shallow frying 

1. Unsalted melted butter 3 tbsp
2. Non stick pan 

D. Ingredients for garnish

1. Maple syrup 
2. Chocolate syrup
3. Cinnamon powder
4. Powdered sugar 

Method Of Preparation 

A. Method Of Preparation Of Batter

1. Add eggs in a bowl & beat it well.

2. Then add the milk, followed by sugar, vanilla essence, cinnamon powder & nutmeg powder. 

3. Mix everything together until well combined & keep it aside.




B. Method Of Preparation Of Filling 

1. Take a slice of bread & trim its crust using a knife or scissors.



2. Using a rolling pin, roll the bread out thin.




3. Using a butter knife or a spoon, spread the nutella/fruit preserve/jam/cream cheese on the rolled out bread.



4. On one end of the bread, place the thinly sliced fruits of your choice & sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon powder on the fruits.



5. Roll it up tightly 




6. Dip the roll in the egg-milk batter/mixture.






7. Fry it on a heated non stick pan butter with the seam side down first until it turns golden brown & slightly crisp & then turn & cook the other side too.




8. Serve hot sprinkled with powdered sugar & cinnamon powder & garnished with maple syrup & chocolate syrup.
